Ornate souvenir book for the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong. Despite Mao’s wishes to be cremated the central authorities instead decided to embalm and enshrine him. His body is now a popular attraction in the middle of Tiannanmen Square in Beijing. The book shows exterior and interior views of the mausoleum hall as well as surrounding halls, meeting rooms, and museums. Includes the English supplement providing translation of Chairman Hua [Kuo-feng] Guofeng’s speech at the 1976 cornerstone ceremony and captions for the photographs.
